Photography Checklist for a Traditional Wedding
A traditional wedding photography plan should explain meaning, timing and people—not simply list objects to photograph. Share the ceremony structure with the photographer so they can anticipate transitions respectfully.
Map every event and location
List the ceremonies, preparation locations, travel, meal times and reception. For multi-day celebrations, state what changes between days and which family members will attend each event.
Flag simultaneous activities. One photographer cannot cover two rooms at once, so the team size should follow the schedule.
Name the people and moments
Provide a concise list of immediate family, elders and any person with a formal role. Explain moments that must not be interrupted and where the photographer may stand.
Prepare a practical group list with one family member who can gather people. Keep it focused so portraits do not consume the celebration.
Discuss visual and delivery priorities
Share clothing, jewellery, décor and any objects with ceremonial significance. Decide whether preparation, sound, speeches or performances also need film coverage.
Ask how the team approaches mixed lighting and crowded spaces. Confirm the deliverables and privacy expectations, particularly if images from a family ceremony should not be shared publicly.
